How effective are Cognitive Solutions? |
| |
Cognitive solutions are not a magic pill that
can change problem situations simply by being exposed to the
academic concepts of cognition. |
| |
Cognitive solutions are like any solution strategy
that provides successful permanent outcomes - the individual
must willingly work hard at improving, then progress will be
realised. Cognitive solutions can be likened to sport’s
coaching. Unless the one being coached is prepared to put in
the practise, successful goals will not be reached. |
| |
Cognitive solutions are the very best solution
pathways, because increasing cognitive skills and therefore
mental efficiency prepares the individual’s mind to be
able to cope with any problem situation in life. Cognitive solutions
do not just help the individual with the immediate problem for
which he/she may initially seek help, but will empower the individual
to deal with all other problems the individual may face. |
| |
Frequently a problem is only a problem because
the person cannot see a solution for it. If individuals are
trained to become more effective cognitively, problems will
cease to be obstacles. The problems will instead become challenges
and life will become exciting as strategies are applied to the
challenges. The joy of succeeding over the odds will out weigh
the discomfort of the challenge. As a result motivation is increased,
creativity is enhanced and a happy and well-adjusted individual
is able to succeed even over the odds. |
| |
People often ask how cognitive inefficiencies
occur in the first place. Cognition develops in early childhood.
Not every child has the same opportunity of developing cognitive
functions at the same level of efficiency as every other child.
Emotional circumstances, sickness, living facilities, business
of parents, and the intrusion of the electronic media into childhood
play all take their toll on cognitive development. It is the
Institute’s work to complete much of this unfinished cognitive
development that causes people so much stress and anxiety in
coping with life’s challenges.

to advice given, and the Institute does not and cannot have power
over every individual to ensure faithful adherence to therapy strategies.
- The fees charged at the Institute are for the advice and counselling service given.
As with any service industry, the service is limited by the control that the consultant has over the client.
All that our consultants can do is provide strategies professionally derived and encouragement for the client
to apply themselves to the therapy. The fee therefore pays for the consultant's professional time, not the
outcome, as the outcome is the responsibility of the client when following advice.
- Any referral to any other professional person is purely
a recommendation and should never be considered binding.
The recommendation is made in good faith and does not imply
directly or indirectly that the professional person has
superior service quality to any other professional person.
